Abigail Elizabeth Connors
Fifth Year, Ravenclaw
Nicknames: Abbie, Abby
Age: Sixteen
Gender: Female
Blood: Muggleborn
Alliance: Harry's Side, the Good Side
Appearance: Abbie has always been a bit taller and thinner than most. Her father is over six feet, and apparently she has inherited his height. Unfortunately, she has found it awkward talking to her friends at times, because she towers over most of them. It doesn't help that she is a year older than everyone in her year, giving her an extra year to grow. Because of her height, Abbie appears very thin and lanky. She is thin, but not overly so. In the past Abbie has had issues with people who have accused her of having an eating disorder. Thankfully no one has accused her of an eating disorder in recent years, though she remains thin and very tall. She walks with little confidence, preferring to keep her head facing the ground than face everyone around her. It proves her shyness, and though Abbie worries it will cause others to think her too reserved to talk to, Abbie rarely lifts her head up in a confident manner.
Abbie's hair is a very common shade of brown. It's not too dark, more of a chocolate color. She's never been overly pleased with her hair. Each summer her hair lightens, and the sun turns it almost blonde. Though she does not think her hair is beautiful, she has never had a problem with it. Her dark hair falls down her back, past her shoulders and her shoulder blades. There are layers throughout it, the first ones as high as level with her eyebrows. Abbie had bangs a year or so before, but they have grown long enough to appear to be another layer.
Abbie has never pictured herself as beautiful, or even pretty really. Some have called her pretty, but only family members and family friends. Her blue eyes are nice, but aside from them, Abbie is not too sure what else could make her pretty in the eyes of family and friends. Her face has an oval shape, but it looks fine with her tall, thin body. Her front teeth are slightly larger than the rest of her teeth, but they do not look too bad, so she does not bother with them. If she could fix them she would, but she does not see the point. They are only teeth, and as long as they are healthy she is happy with them.
Abbie spends little time in front of the mirror every morning. She does not put much make-up on, however she does like her hair to look good. It isn't hard for her to do so, because for her, a simple ponytail looks nice. Her dressing style is normal for any fifteen year old girl. She wears her school robes during the school day, rarely bothering to change out of them after classes are over, because there is not much time left in the day and unless she is going to spend time with a friend outside, she will wear her robes until the end of the day. If she does something after classes, she will usually just wear sweats or comfortable clothes that she can fall asleep in. On the weekends, Abbie's style changes. She wears skirts, or jeans, or shorts. Whatever she is in the mood to wear she will put on. Her favorite things to wear are simply jeans, a t-shirt, and a pair of sneakers or flip-flops, because she loves to be comfortable.
Personality: Abbie is very much like the steryotipical Ravenclaw. She loves to learn and read, and can spend hours sitting in the Library. In fact, the Library is one of her favorite places in Hogwarts. Her goal is to finish reading all of the books in the Library before she completes her seventh year. Reading so much has made her intelligent enough to be placed in Ravenclaw. She enjoys solving problems, and though she does not necessarily like school work, she has no real reason to dislike it. It is simply something for her to do, that she neither likes nor dislikes.
A person's first reaction upon meeting Abbie could quite possibly be that she is shy. She certainly is, at least around most people. Abbie does not enjoy meeting net people, because she does not know how to act around them. She shies away from anyone she does not know well. This is often difficult when she wants to make friends, but it is simply the way she is. Abbie has done better at speaking openly around others, but only enough so that she can say something around them. Not so much that she is able to really open up to them. Unlike Sophia, whose attitude seems to have changed drastically since she was young, Abbie has always been a shy, bright young witch. Even though her brother is a Ravenclaw like her, Ben is more outgoing than Abbie is. He is willing to talk to others and meet new people, whereas Abbie would rather spend time with the people she already knows.
Because of her reserved nature, Abbie has few close friends. Sure, during her three years at Hogwarts she has met other students and befriended some, but there are only a couple of people whom she can call true friends. Therefore, she only opens up to those few people, and her siblings. She has a stronger bond with Ben than with anyone else, and she wants to keep it that way. Abbie is always worried that she and Ben will eventually drift apart, because he has many friends, few of which are her friends as well. If that happens, Abbie will be almost alone. Ben is the one person she can fully trust, and she tells him everything. The two spend hours in the common room, sitting and talking about anything and everything. Abbie has never shared that kind of connection with another person. It may be because Ben is her brother, but whatever the reason, she knows that she can always talk to him if she needs someone.
When Abbie is by herself, or around Ben or her close friends, she is a fun person. Abbie enjoys spending time outdoors. There is something about nature that interests her, and calms her. Whether it is because of the tranquility it offers, or because of the seclusion that is deep within the trees, Abbie’s favorite place is outside. It is even more comforting to her than the Library. In most of her free time, Abbie is found somewhere in the school grounds. And although she loves nature, she is too frightened to enter the Forbidden Forest. It’s forbidden anyways, right? Some students have entered it before, but she has never worked up enough courage to do so.
Abbie is a vegetarian. She cannot bare to eat an animal, and doesn't understand how others can. She does not disapprove of those who do eat meat, but she cannot bring herself to eat meat. For all she knows, Abbie has never eaten meat. She may have at a young age, but she has begged her parents not to tell her if she has. She feels that eating a creature that had no fighting chance at its own survival is wrong, therefore she does not eat any meat. Abbie will, however, eat fish, for she understand that she needs protien to survive, but any other meat she will not touch.
Abbie cares greatly for all others and the earth. She has heard about the evils of the world, both onto humans and nature, and she does not tolerate either. Her thoughts on the matter of the earth are that if there are people who do not help to care for the planet, then it will not survive long in future years. She also does not like violence. She does not enjoy the company of most Slytherins, but she cannot handle someone hurting another. The spells in class she performs on another student are done as basic as she can possibly perform them, and she is always cautious not to harm her fellow student. Her first thought after casting a spell on someone is whether they are alright or not. Though she feels this way, Abbie knows that there may come a time when she will have to use Witchcraft to save her life, while hurting others. The only thing she can think of that will ease her mind of this thought is that the people she may eventually need to protect herself from are harming good people, the people she cares about.
History: Young Sophia Connors had never been a disobedient child, until her mother died when the small girl was only five years old. The twenty-three year old Rebecca Connors had been sick for less than a year before she passed. She and her husband Nicholas had been young when they'd had their first child, Nicholas only nineteen and Rebecca only eightteen. They had married shortly after they had found out Rebecca was pregnant with Sophia. After his wife's death, Nicholas was devastated, but he learned to cope with her death. He and his daughter moved not to far away, but out of the house they had lived in as a family. Sending Sophia to a new school, Nicholas believed he could help her deal with her mother's death. However, the way Sophia dealt with Rebecca's death was by acting out any time she was away from her father. In school, she could not behave herself and eventually earned a meeting with her teacher and her father. Nicholas was upset with his daughter, and met with her teacher, a Mrs. Daynes.
Patricia Daynes was a twenty three year old Kindergarten teacher. She was a kind woman, and wanted to help her young student behave properly around her classmates. Nicholas and Sophia's meeting did not help much with Sophia's attitude, but a few weeks later, Nicholas and Patricia began dating. Sophia's attitude changed for the worst at this. Even at such a young age, she was furious that her father could find someone to replace her mother so quickly. Within a year, Nicholas and Patricia married, and shortly after, Patricia found that she was pregnant.
Sophia was finally comfortable with Patricia (not as a step-mother, but as a friend), when she was told that she would have a younger brother or sister within several months's time. Sophia, though not as angry with her father as she had been before, was not pleased with the thought of her father having another child to love. What if he forgot about her, like he did with Rebecca? The six-year-old did not know what would happen if her father spent all of his time with his new wife and child. She could not handle the thought of losing another parent. Her disobedient manner had faded, but with the coming of a younger sibling, the chance of it returning was better than before.
Abigail Elizabeth was born on December 9th, 1981. Her half sister Sophia was eight years old at the time. Maybe the difference in age was what helped Sophia adjust to having Abigail in the family. Just short of a year later, in August, a little brother was added to the family. Sophia, who was nine when Benjamin was born, received a letter of acceptance to a school two years later. This was no ordinary school. The acceptance letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry informed her briefly of the school, and what was taught there. Nicholas and Patricia had noticed a few years before that odd things occured around Sophia at times, but they passed the strange things off as coincidences and thought little of them. Now, however, they realized that they weren't coincidences, that Sophia was a witch. The two grew nervous, but Sophia insisted that she go to the school. Though Patricia, worried for Sophia's safety, warned that it was probably a scam, Nicholas allowed his first daughter to attend the magic school, explaining to his wife that though he had no idea why, he felt that it was not a cruel prank or dangerous.
He had been right. Nicholas and Patricia, not knowing that non-magical people could give birth to a magical child, assumed that Rebecca had been a witch. Abigail, or Abbie, as she insisted she be called, was only three and did not understand why her older sister was leaving. She was upset, but the stories that Sophia told her when she came home during summer and Christmas break made Abbie excited for her letter to come. Soon she begged Sophia to go to Hogwarts, so when she came back she could tell her more stories. She waited expectantly for years for her letter to Hogwarts, until Nicholas and Patricia sat her down one day to tell her that she was not a witch like Sophia. Benjamin was only a year younger than Abbie, but he enjoyed Sophia's stories just as much. He and Abbie were very close, because they were less than a full year apart. So, as soon as Abbie learned that Sophia was the only witch in the family, she hurried to tell Ben, and the two of them spent the next few months in a depressed mood, until Sophia returned with more exciting stories of magic.
Neither Nicholas or Patricia noticed Abbie or Ben's signs of possessing magical abilities because they were subtle compared to Sophia's. Sophia had always been a dramatic young girl, and whenever she had a surge of emotion, something would happen. But Abbie and Ben were fairly calm children, getting along and rarely expressing a strong emotion like sadness or anger. When the two received their letters to Hogwarts around the same time, they were shocked. After thinking about it for hours, the couple thought of only one reason- that though Nicholas was not a Wizard, he must have been a descendant of a Witch or Wizard for all three of his children to be magical. Because of Abbie's birthday being after September 1st, she and Ben received their Hogwarts letters during the same summer. Though she would be a year older than most in that year, Abbie was thankful that she would have her brother in the same year as her.
Abbie's first ride on the Hogwarts Express was one of the most exciting rides of her life. She spent the entire time with Ben, and the two of them retold some of Sophia's old stories. Sophia had left Hogwarts a few years ago. When Abbie and Ben began their first year, Sophia was already twenty. So Abbie and Ben were the only people each other knew at the large school. It was rather frightening for Abbie to be leaving her parents and sister to go away to school. She assumed it was the same for Ben, though she was a little too scared herself to notice if he was nervous at all. However, she was more than thankful that Ben was there with her. If she had been born nine days earlier, she would have received her Hogwarts letter a year before Ben, and she would be all alone at the school.
Abbie, being the shy young girl she was, did not make many friends her first year. Sure, after a while she did befriend a few other students, but most of her time was spent with Ben, who was in Ravenclaw like her. During the first few months, she avoided her dormitory, spending as much time in the Common Room with her brother as she could so that she would not have to sit on her bed and attempt to talk to the other girls in her dormitory. Even during classes she stuck by Ben. After a while, he found her constant need to be with him annoying, and began pushing her off. Not much, though, for he knew that she loved him, and he loved her. But he knew that she could not spend her whole life attached to him, meeting only the people he met. So, he told her that she should spend less time with him, and more time making friends. She took his advice a little hesitantly, but soon began talking with a few others and slowly befriended some of the other students.
Also during her second year was the TriWizard Tournament. An exciting event, Abbie made a friend or two with the Beauxbaton and Durmstrang students. However, because she was only a second year, Abbie did not get to meet too many foreign students. She was able to watch the tasks, all of which left her in awe. Abbie, not one to be extremely brave or daring, was so surprised that the four contestants were able to complete such dangerous tasks. After the final task, the rumors about the Dark Lord and Harry Potter that spread throughout the school and the entire Wizarding Community frightened the young girl. She had only been at Hogwarts a year, and already there was danger lurking close by. During the summer after her first year though, Abbie's growing fear seemed to settle down, and she kept herself from thinking of the dangers ahead.
Her third year was fairly uneventful, though she did make a few more friends. Abbie kept her shy and reserved manner around others, but shortly after getting to know a person better, she was able to open up to them. Abbie's fourth year was much like her third, normal for that of a Hogwarts student. She did very well in her classes, as she had since her first year. Now, Abbie is in her fifth year, and whether things will stay the same or change is uncertain.
Likes: Being a Ravenclaw and a bright girl, Abbie loves to read. She enjoys learning new things and expanding her intelligence. She does not enjoy playing Quidditch, or flying really, but watching her classmates play the sport is something she enjoys. She loves to cheer on her friends from the Ravenclaw stands. Like any teenage girl, Abbie can talk with her friends for hours. She may not be the most outgoing girl around others, but around her friends, Abbie is a chatterbox.
She also has quite a few Muggle hobbies, being Muggleborn. Though she is only able to do these during summer and Christmas break, Abbie loves to play soccer (football, as it's called in Europe and basically everywhere but the U.S.). She likes to listen to music, but she has been listening to more music from the wizarding world than the Muggle world in recent years. She reads both Wizarding books and Muggle books, both of which she loves.
Dislikes: As stated before, Abbie does not usually enjoy spending time without her brother or her friends. She has a tough time talking with those she does not know well, which does not help her to make friends. She does not enjoy playing Quidditch, or even flying, for she has a fear of heights. Well, she does not have a fear of heights exactly, but she can only go so high while riding a broomstick before she worries that she will fall off of the wooden stick. Abbie does not enjoy Defense Against the Dark Arts too much, for the class requires learning spells to use against others, and she does not approve of fighting.

The Library. It wasn't one of Jordan's favorite places in Hogwarts, nor was it one of her least favorites. To her, it was just, there. She enjoyed reading, but books she wanted to read, not the ones she was forced to read by professors. Though she may have read the books on her own time, the books she was assigned to read weren't interesting to Jordan. Maybe it was because she had no choice but to read them. Jordan could choose not to read those books, but since she was a good student, or a decent student, she did what was expected. Not to the best of her ability, though. Many times, she skimmed through books that she didn't want to read, or not even read them at all. This didn't help when it came time to do work assigned in class, but Jordan managed to do well enough to pass.
Jordan didn't really enjoy the atmosphere of a Library. Or, at least not the Library at Hogwarts. It wasn't bad, exactly, and she didn't dislike it, she just felt that there were so many other places within the large school that were, well, better than the Library. It was quiet, something that Jordan was not. There was only so much silence a person could handle, and the Library was always silent. That is, of course, when everyone followed the rules. There were occasions during which students got out of hand, or just cracked. There were some young first and second years, and even third years, who had yet to experience the unfortunate feeling of being swallowed by the silence. It drove Jordan insane, and she had no doubt that there were dozens of other students who felt the same way. There weren't too many students above the age of 14 that littered the aisles of the Library, probably due to the uncomfortable silence that threatened to cut their last shards of sanity.
On this particular day, Jordan's excuse for entering the Library was to grab a book for Potions and leave as quickly as possible. She had an essay to write, and of course, she hadn't been paying attention in class. So, when the essay had been assigned, Jordan had sighed heavily under her breath. The chances of such a large assignment had been slim, and Jordan had figured that she would have a short break between long, time-consuming assignments. But no. An essay of at least four pages was due in three days. Four pages wasn't too bad, for someone who hadn't done their History of Magic homework in Potions. So, she had resorted to the Library to try to teach herself the lesson.
If it had been someone from any other house, Jordan may not have been surprised. But he was a Slytherin, and a fairly stupid Slytherin at that. Maybe not stupid, but within her seven years at Hogwarts, Jordan had not seen him possess any shred of intelligence. She looked at Goyle curiously. Whether he was intelligent or not, she had never before seen him in the Library. Could he even read? Jordan doubted it. Maybe he didn't even know where he was. He was one of the two goons who constantly followed Malfoy around the school. She didn't think he had anything better to do than follow the greasy haired, pale boy around, but she did her best to avoid interacting with Slytherins. However, this Slytherin being in the Library made Jordan curious.

Since I also play Hermione, I think Lisa's yay or nay should decide if Abbie is accepted or not, because it isn't fair to accept myself.
