Amid a very damp colored Common Room with a dim light of the chimney roaring away, Ron sat very calmly upon a desk not afar the light. He seemed very concentrated, hardly moving, perhaps hardly breathing. His quill at hand and a demented expression of worry with angst he normally didn't display. " Your eyes, ...there...there like the stars of the night ...no! " darted Ron in mid silence and mutter. His frustrations got the best of him, throwing his arms up as though to stretch when he accidentally threw his quill into the fiery torch of the chimney in front of him. "Blimey, No!....shoot not again " he continued very solemnly.
As Ron got up he started to walk by the stairs of his dormitory very sure that he has saved some quills in his truck for safety purposes. But as he headed to the bottom of the climb, he turned rather abruptly, he thought for a split second if it should be wise for him to head up with the seemingly unfinished note open. He didn't even know if he was planning to finish it anytime soon. He was so preoccupied with school, Prefect duty and Quidditch practice that he was surprised to see the time spent on the measly little words he managed to write on the piece of parchment.
Again his pensive expression remained rather astray from the matter at hand, in the time he thought of coming up and back he could have already reached and finished what he started, but the seconds kept haunting him as he looked at the piece of parchment untouched and unread. " well no one's here anyway, Won't it be my luck if someone does come in?... " he continued to say under his breathe. It all reality it would be Ron's ironic and total misfortune to hear someone come in, in such a inopportune moment. But it was a chance he wanted to take, since his lazy personality resisted coming back those several steps in order to put the parchment away and out of sight just until he got another quill.
He ran up the boy's dormitory staircase and rummaged through his personal belongings, making more of a mess than before he started. Throwing useless pieces of parchment with silly notes to Harry way back when they sat right behind Malfoy. He carpeted several empty receptacles of ink as well, it was really a miracle he came to his trunk and organize it evenly. Which was exactly what caught his attention immediately, completely forgetting what he left undone in the main common room. He furnished his trunk, took out all his books, pilled his clothes, organized his materials and let the minutes to half an hour pass by like nothing.
With a quarter to nine in the evening, Ron was finally completely done with fixing his messy luggage and ready to get back to his unfinished note. But just as he was about to head back down he remembered the reason why he wasn't done with it in the first place, the darn quill. In which he went back and without realizing it had to go back down to the bottom of his trunk in which he left all his extra school materials. But it was with great misfortune that in those last couple of minutes he took to get the quill he heard so sensitively the door of the main common room open. Ron's heart skipped a beat and without thinking it twice he got his quill, semi closed his trunk and raced to the bottom of the staircase.

Her last class of the day was Potions. Hermione had always excelled in academics, all academics, however there was something about that particular subject that Hermione didn't like. Maybe it wasn't the class at all. It wasn't because of the grades, because Hermione did exceptionally well in all of her classes. The last reason she had thought of that could be the cause of her dislike for the subject was the person who taught it for so many years. She loathed him. Snape had killed Dumbledore. There was no way she would ever see him as anything but a rude, backstabbing coward now.
Hermione's quick steps carried her up the many staircases to the Library. She spent the next hour or so studying. Not that any studying would help the current situation she and her friends were dealing with. Of course, Hermione would never abandon her studies on any normal occasion. However, the goal of the trio was to locate and destroy all of the Dark Lord's horcruxes. She found it difficult to do so while sitting in the Library of Hogwarts, reading about what ingredients to add to a Blabbing Beverage. What use was speaking nonsense anyway?
She sat with Ginny and a few of her friends at lunch, but Hermione did not say much. They talked about their teachers, classes, other students. Hermione found all of this annoying. She knew that none of this mattered in reality, that there were dangers outside Hogwarts' walls that did not have anything to do with classes or other things. Ginny knew as well, but her friends seemed to have no idea. Ginny was talking with her friends, but she was strong, and she could easily hide how she felt about everything while she was with her friends. However, the others had no idea what was going on. If they did, they did not seemed disturbed by the events at all. It angered Hermione that these people could simply act like nothing was happening outside.
She left the Great Hall early, not wanting to think about the approaching war any longer. Up the many stairs she climbed, until she was standing before the portrait of the Fat Lady. Speaking the password, the portrait opened up to reveal an empty Common Room. Hermione found that odd. It was not too late, and dinner was surely over. It had been a nice day outside, maybe the other Gryffindors were taking advantage of the nice evening, or maybe they were in the Library, or even detention. Hermione ran up the stairs of the girls' dormitories quickly, placed her books into her trunk, then returned to the still empty Common Room.
Near the fireplace, on one of the few desks in the room, a piece of parchment and an ink bottle lay on the surface. Hermione wondered who had left the objects there, for if on the parchment was the person's homework, then someone else in the class could easily take it. She walked over to the desk slowly, and was about to pick up the parchment, when someone thundered down the stairs of the boys' dormitories. Hermione looked up to see Ron coming down the steps.

Ron who looked incensed with embarrassment, looked to see that Hermione had entered and was set only inches away from his so called 'letter'. His face couldn't have looked more flushed red and his heart beating any faster than a snitch at flight. He seemed to have been stammering in his own thoughts until he finally managed to gush out several words. " 'Ey Er-my-o-nee, you sure came in early. Done your research for the night, you know on the Horcruxes. " he continued rather whisperishly. He walked about a bit more closer to the desk where she stood looking down as though to make sure he didn't leave a trace of his name or signature over the parchment.
He smirked a bit to realize the parchment wasn't fully constructed and only had in black ink the few words he blurted in his mind earlier, which he found to be cheesy and wrong although it expressed everything he thought of a particular person and more. At which point he thought it wouldn't matter if she looked at it, althoug he would have to come up with a really bizarre reason why that was just laying around. No one was in the common room besides Hermione and himself, therefore blaming someone else for the occasion wasn't going to work. If he said it was for his mum he could be caught telling a lie, since Ron wasn't good with deception, and therefore he had to continue to think quick on his feet.
His hand finally touched the desk as though to lean on something, but he gradually tried to grab and pull the parchment to his side of the table, hoping to crumble it up and burn it if possible before Hermione could get to reading the blimey thing. Although he didn't seem to care he thought just throwing the thing away would avoid much conflict, and perhaps hopefully get Hermione to talk more about their problem at hand.
" Now that I mention about Horcruxes, have you seen Harry anywhere? His seemed to have been making one disappearing act after another...and he said we're suppos' to be working together to get rid of the things as soon as we could " he continued trying to intervene Hermione's thoughts by getting closer to the piece of parchment.

Ron studdered as he spoke, which was odd. Hermione didn't normally see Ron this nervous when he wasn't around a teacher, or something dangerous. His face was red too, which was strange, but Hermione did not think about it more. Ron was a strange person. She couldn't, for the life of her, figure him out, and she was beginning to wonder if that was even a bad thing or not.
Hermione's thoughts drifted from the piece of parchment on the desk. "I didn't find anything else on Horcruxes. I didn't expect to. Anything we know about Horcruxes we've already read about in the books in the Library. Perhaps there is more information about them in the Restricted Section, but I certainly can't go in there during the day." The students of Hogwarts could not enter the Restricted Section without a note from a professor, or the pages of the book begin screaming when opened. Hermione did not expect any professor to allow her to enter the Restricted Section so early in the year, so the chance that they would learn more about Horcruxes in a Restricted Section book would have to be tested later in the year.
"And what have you been doing to help with gathering information on Horcruxes? Sitting in the Common Room? All three of us have to put our best efforts into learning more about them. You can't slack off," Hermione scolded. She was not going to allow Ron and Harry to sit around while she did all of the work finding books that contained Horcrux information. It wasn't a simple class assignment that they could cheat off of her on. They would not succeed if they all did not help.
"I haven't seen him around lately either." Their friend had definitely perfected the art of disappearing over the past few weeks. He would wander off on his own and they would not see him again for hours at a time. It was starting to worry Hermione, but she did not confront Harry. At least, not yet. She would wait until he was talking to them again, until he seemed more at ease with what was going on. It seemed to be hitting him hard. Sure it was worse for him, but they were all friends and they could help him through it. "Where do you think he's been going?"

Ron got a bit sidetracked with Hermione's replies, and payed attention to her rather than on the piece of parchment at the moment. After hearing her scold at him, his nerve twitched as though something were bogging' his mind, " I haven't been slacking off... for your information I've had a long day, I've been working on homework, seeing my new schedule for Prefect duty and had to attend a Quidditch meeting earlier today, I hardly had any time to research Horcruxes. Maybe if I didn't have to go to school, or attend Quidditch I could actually have time to do some research" he sarcastically commented as his face turned a light pink getting slightly closer to her to get his message across. But as she continued his anger subsided for the moment as he grew worrisome of Harry as well.
"Where do you think he's been going?"
" You got me there, he didn't even bother leaving the Maurader's Map, I think his been trying to search for something, he must be obviously taking his invisibility cloak cuz we don't see him in or out of the common room.... I hardly tell when his gone in the morning and he comes back late at night when I'm already out in duty. " and then his mind got a bit methodical. He had completely forgotten the parchment while he gently played with the quill he brought at hand.
An idea came to his mind suddenly, " Now listen, why don't we try to catch Harry in the most inopportune moment, as in we stay at out usual locations at night checking corridors and such, but keep an eye out for the front of the common room door. His bound to come in anyway invisible or not. ...And something tells me that he stays in the Room of Requirement. " replied Ron inquisitively. His eyes went from Hermione to the fire, the bright shimmer and cackle of the light made him think more of the problem, but not the current one.
He looked back at Hermione with a deep sigh as though he was stuck, he couldn't continue thinking of Harry's whereabouts, curfew was just about to start too. " I know it's a bit drastic, but it's still a thought..." he lightly muttered enough for her to hear.

Ron's arguments did not help Hermione realize that he actually had been helping Harry with his search for Horcrux information. As Ron raised his voice and argued back at her, Hermione only felt angrier. She did not think about how much stress they were under, only that he was, at the moment, not helping to find information on Horcruxes. "We've all had a long day, Ron. It's been a long week for all of us. I work twice as hard on homework, I have duties as Head Girl, and on top of that, I have to find information on the Horcruxes while keeping you and Harry from failing your classes." Her tone was slightly higher than normal, from all of the annoyance that was dripping from her words. "You have no choice but to go to school, because outside of Hogwarts you would be no help to us. Ron, if I can make time for researching a bit at the Library, than surely you can do the same."
As soon as Ron mentioned Harry again Hermione's anger subsided and her thoughts changed from those of anger to those of worry. "I'm worried about him. The few classes he shows up to he doesn't pay attention in, and he enters and leaves before I get a chance to talk to him." She assumed it was the same way with Ron, because even though they were best friends the way Ron was talking about him it seemed as if Ron had not spoken with Harry in a while either.
Hermione thought about Ron’s plan, then a thought occurred to her. “Why don’t we just enter the Room of Requirement when we know he’s not around. We’ll just think about finding Harry, and if he is in there, then we will see him when we enter the Room of Requirement, won’t we?” Hermione knew only what Ron and Harry knew about the Room of Requirement, and whatever information could be found in books about the Room, for it was not an easy room to find. The few people who found it refused to tell about it. So her knowledge on how it worked was limited. But this seemed logical. “We can try your idea too, then if we don’t catch him we can check the Room of Requirement. One of these plans will work.” She continued to think of how they could find their friend again.
“It’s not drastic, at least not as drastic as how Harry is treating us. We’re his friends, he can trust us. And he can certainly talk to us about what is bothering him. If he can’t talk to us, who can he talk to?” Hermione looked at the Common Room door quickly to make sure no one was entering. “We should think of a few possible ways to find Harry and talk to him before we put any plan into action. There are quite a few options for catching him and talking to him before he storms off. You know that as soon as we start talking to him he will get angry and walk away.”

" Right, ...I think both our ideas can definitely work, it's bound to, he can't be hiding all the time" he suggested in the mid of thought and planning. He knew from her worried words of concern for Harry that it really got to her as much as to him. He even thought of looking quickly into Harry's possessions to make sure he was indeed with the cloak, without rightfully saying a word, he looked over to Hermione and looked like he had a plan.
As he let the quill fall to the table, he eventually said, " Hold on, I need to check something " he continued as he excused himself only to run back up the boys dormitory staircase and into Harry's side of the room. Everything was as always slightly untidy, messy to say the least. But it didn't matter, he knew how to put everything back to it's original place, as he rummaged through his trunk and most convenient locations for the invisibility cloak. His expression kept getting from bad to worse as he sought no cloak. " that little sneak did take his cloak" he said under his breathe. It was obvious really, but it was worth the check. Although as he let Hermione down the main common room alone for a bit he didn't seem to remember that he left his note and quill at the table. Didn't seem to worry him at the moment, he even looked around to see if there was any clue of what he was up to recently, perhaps a note saying something about a location, perhaps a thought he he wanted to take down.
It seemed very difficult to try and locate even that simple site of localizing him. As a matter of fact, Ron then realized he hasn't seen Draco too often either, it seemed like a constant repetition of last year's whereabouts, but he didn't feel like taking a trip back down memory lane. As he stood over Harry's stuff he did notice his school materials were just on his bed, really untouched and hardly opened. It seemed as though right after classes he had other things to attend to, but that seemed strange since he didn't even bother going to Quidditch try-outs as usual. " Something isn't right....[/i]" Ron continued to mutter. But it was hopeless as he placed everything bad in it's somewhat rightful manner as he found it and started to go down the staircase as his thoughts wandered a bit on the idea of what Harry was up to. It seemed logical to assume he was after the entire purpose of the Horcruxes since that's been his latest obsession but what clue did he have which neither Hermione or he had a grip on yet. It was blurred as he saw Hermione there alone, " Ar' you alrigh'? " he faintly commented.

Oh, Hermione was positive that Harry couldn't hide all of the time. He was one of the most well-known students throughout Hogwarts. Aside from her and Ron, there were countless others who would know that he was missing, and the last thing he would want was more attention, right? He had, after all, said countless times during their fourth year when he had been selected as one of the TriWizard Champions, that he wished to be a normal wizard. That he wanted nothing more than to have a normal life. But the calm, relaxed life her friend desired would not come while the Dark Lord was still alive. She knew that, so did Harry and Ron. And until Harry's destiny was fulfilled, her life as well as Ron's would be just as confusing and dangerous as his was.
She was about to agree that a plan, any plan, would work, when suddenly, Ron excused himself from the room and hurried up the stairs. Well, that was rude, Hermione thought. They were in the middle of a conversation, and he just left. Soon, she could hear the sounds of objects being moved from their original places, books being thrown aside. As if their dormitory wasn't untidy enough already. Clearly Ron was looking for something, and Hermione could make a few clever quesses as to what he was searching for. Certainly not as quickly as he had left, Ron came down the stairs. He seemed disappointed, and Hermione knew it was because his attempt to find what he had been looking for was unsuccessful.
Once again standing in front of her, Ron asked such a simple question. But, Hermione found the answer difficult to say. She was not alright. She had not been for quite a while. She was always nervous, but ready to fight whatever they came across at the same time. Her confusing thoughts and feelings did not stop there, however. Everything was uncertain in her mind. But she could not possibly explain to Ron how she felt. She knew him to avoid any strong emotion aside from anger. Well, except for at Dumbledore's funeral, but that had been an extreme occasion. Though Hermione was sure her answer or tone was not convincing, she replied softly, "Yeah, I'm alright. You?"

"Yea,....yea I'm alrigh'" Ron spilled a bit confused. His voice wasn't as convincing either, it seemed those words were chocked out of him. He definitely couldn't speak the real feelings he felt to her, he knew far too well her character to try an unwise thought like that. He just nodded in understanding and continued, " so I assume we go with both plans the--n..." he quickly jerked as he looked next to her the piece of parchment again. He with no real hurry went over to her and also he got inches close to Hermione he sighed and while looking at her straight eye to eye. He grabbed the parchment and wrinkled it in his hand. He gave an unconvincing smile and stepped back several feet. " So Prefect duty....ready?" he added as he sustained the parchment behind him and continued on.
He definitely remembered what he was up to several hours earlier. But it didn't seem like the perfect time to try and divert the situation at hand, as he got close to a trash bin he threw the parchment in and headed over to bottom of the boy's dormitory staircase once more. " Let me just get my coat and we can head out.." he finished as she went back up and retreated the item. He was a bit red on the face, realizing what had just happened, Hermione seemed alright he kept thinking, a bit worried that her previous comment wasn't really convincing or otherwise strong. He stopped before leaving the dormitory lightly fixing his hair as though he was just about to go out, and fancy some girl, when in reality the only girl he fancied was downstairs, perhaps a bit dumbfounded by his current actions.
Ron couldn't understand himself either, at any time he was around her he felt a rush surge him, and a feeling of awkwardness no one else has managed to bring out in him. He thought it was natural that it wouuld just pass, being his best friend and whatnot, but once he noticed those feelings were real it seemed to be the driving force for his fight against the Dark Lord as well. Even though the prior task at hand was help Harry as it has always been, he started to place into picture the idea of protecting another valuable and strong asset in his life, Hermione. Whom although she had countless times saved him in homework, school and so many other things, he felt it only right for him to return the gesture and be by her side just as much as Harry. He finally accepted his feelings for her, and thought it must be mutual, no matter how bizarre they were.

Ron's answer was as convincing as hers. At least Hermione wasn't the only one who was uneasy with everything that was going on now. "I guess so," Hermione said. She was unsure that either plan would work, but she knew they couldn't just wait for Harry to come talk to them. Harry was the type of person to avoid talking to his friends when something was going on, and Ron and Hermione knew that. If they didn't try to find him and talk to him first, they probably wouldn't be able to talk to Harry for a long time.
Ron stepped forward, and she looked at him. She heard a paper crumple, and looked down at Ron's hand as he stepped back again. Hermione had forgotten about the parchment. She hadn't known it was Ron's, so as soon as he had entered the Common Room, she had lost interest in it. She was about to ask him what it was, when he mentioned Prefect duty. A small sigh escaped her lips, but she doubted Ron could hear it. "I guess." Hermione normally loved Prefect duty, but she wanted to put one or both of their plans to action, and finally talk to Harry. Though in recent years he had avoided them during the year, Hermione did not like not being able to talk to her friend. Sure, she had Ron to talk to, and if he was as evasive as Harry was she would wish to talk to him, but Harry was the one she had not been able to talk to in a while, and Harry was the one who was directly connected to all of this. To You-Know-Who, to the Horcruxes, to everything.
Hermione was still trapped in her thoughts as Ron dropped the parchment into the trash, but the sound of the wrinkled paper falling on top of other old parchment pieces pulled Hermione from her mind and drew her eyes toward the trash bin. Ron headed toward the boys dormitory, and Hermione muttered, "Sure." She waited patiently for him to come back down the stairs. Well, Hermione was not one to normally show any anxious or inpatient behavior. She turned as she heard Ron's footsteps on the stairs. She looked at him for a moment, then turned her head back to the back of the portrait. "Let's go," she said as she looked over her shoulder at him. Then she stepped through the portrait hole and waited for Ron to join her outside the Common Room.

Ron slightly smiled and nodded as he hurried behind Hermione out the Common Room. As the portrait hole disappeared after walking several feet he looked around as though he were trying to find Harry come out of nowhere so blatantly. " Er-my-o-nee... what where you designated for duty tonight?"he asked inquisitively hoping it was close to his ground duty, " I've got the third and fourth floor to check" he confirmed before she could respond.
Not only did he hope she was close to him to keep an eye out for Harry if their plans worked but he was looking forward to working together with her. It was awkward for him to think much of it, but he coldn't get her off his head at times, and really wanted to be around her more often. He didn't know how to explain himself, he hardly saw Harry to tell him the problem, but he was sure he must have gotten some hint of it already. Up to that moment no one else has known of his pressumptious love-life other than his short fling with Lavender Brown which was completely disastrous, pointless and insignificant. He thought he for sure lost her friendship above all else, but there was a price to pay when you decide to go out with someone from your own house.
As he walked aside her he waited for her to respond while he fiddled with the hem of his cloak trying not to look conspicuous.

Hermione thought for a moment. The answer came to her mind quickly. "I'm assigned to the same two floors, if I'm not mistaken, as well as the second floor." Though the difference between Prefect and Head Boy and Girl was small, the two heads were assigned an extra floor to patrol. It was one of the few differences in duties of the two Heads. Hermione, however, did not mind her duties. She enjoyed keeping students in line, because the last thing anyone wanted was students who broke rules, like most of the Slytherins she knew. Sure, she, Ron, and Harry, sometimes accompanied by others, broke rules, but they were fighting He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, and rules had to be broken in order to protect everyone they cared about. But others in the school were not preparing to fight You-Know-Who, and their excuses for breaking rules were usually quite lame.
Hermione was glad that two of the three assigned floors she would check would be with Ron. She found it comforting knowing that he was nearby, especially when she, Harry, and Ron had few they could trust in recent times. Honestly, Harry was acting rude pushing his two friends away. Hermione felt the need to talk about what was going on with them, and try to figure out a solution to each of their problems. With him not around to be able to talk to, Hermione was furious. She was pleased with Ron, though, for he did not shy away from his friends the way Harry did. He seemed to understand how important it was to talk about their plans, how important it was to Hermione that she have someone to talk to about all that was going on. And she was more than thankful for that.
Over the past few years, Ron had been on Hermione's mind more than normal. Of course, he was involved in everything that was happening to the Trio, however he seemed to enter her thoughts more than usual. At first, she did not know how to take this. There was no one she could talk to about it, for she herself had no idea what there was to talk about exactly. It was complicated for her, and Hermione was not used to having no solution to her problem. She pondered these thoughts about him over and over, unable to speak to anyone else about them, and did her best to think of why she felt this way. But she had recently come to understand that this, like some other parts of life, were unexplainable.

Ron's face turned slightly red thinking he was indeed going to be with Hermione that night at least with two floors. As he continud fiddling with the hem of his cloak he didn't notice the bad footing he made and accidentally lost his balance which casually leaned over to Hermione. It a matter of an instant he caused Hermione to lose her balance as well as he landed on top of her with a grunt of pain that sweap over him. He didn't even realize how hard he hit the her or the ground when he finally saw that he was definitely in an awkward position. His face then turned bright red and with little to say he sighed. "sorry... ummm...ar' you alrigh'?" he lightly muttered as he tried to get himself up although he was a bit stuck with his cloak snuggly beneath Hermione.
It really was an bizarre for Ron and very coincidental but he knew very well that it was unintentional. He just hoped she would understand.

Hermione walked beside Ron, heading for the Fourth Floor. They would start there, for coming from the Gryffindor Common Room, that was the first of their assigned floors they would come across. In such a large school, walking from the Seventh Floor to the Fourth Floor took some time. They did not walk too slow, so reaching the Fourth Floor did not take too much time, but it was certainly a larger distance to the Fourth Floor from their common room to the Sixth or Fifth floors.
Hermione's thoughts drifted off to their current situation concerning the Dark Lord. Of course, this was not strange, because these thoughts occupied her mind often now that he was getting stronger. But it was because her mind was elsewhere that she did not notice when Ron stumbled over his feet. She had not seen him trip over his two large feet, but only noticed that he had lost his balance when he finally leaned onto her and brought her to the ground while trying to regain his balance.
Annoyance swept over her as she hit the ground hard, with Ron's large frame falling on her at the same time, followed directly by pain. Ron was taller than her, though he was not overweight his height definitely made him heavier than her. A muffled cry could almost be heard coming from underneath the red head. "I'll be alright if you get off of me," Hermione said as best she could. She was certainly angered that he had been so careless. But her anger subsided when she took a moment to think about it. Of course, he hadn't fallen on her on purpose. It wasn't Ron's fault that he was so clumsy. Nevertheless, she was still slightly annoyed at him, because now her back hurt, as well as her stomach where he had fallen on her. "Are you alright?"
[Eh, I think I took longer to reply than you did. But it's alright that yours is short. Mine kind of sucks..]

Ron's face turned a bright red as he quickly got off and stood up cleaning his cloak from dust. As he looked over to Hermione he extended his hand in hope she might accept his help in return. "I didn't mean to...sorry... " he uttered nonsensically, as he finished brushing off the dust his slightly red face turned it's normal pale like color in a bit of seriousness and anger. He didn't expect her to be so rude, but then again he had known her for quiet a while to realize how her character tended to swade. He didn't seem to have much to add to the overlydramatic woman and figured they had enough of each other... wasn't long before Ron began to tread past her with an upset, yet disappointed face.
